I first created art at camp as a young girl and took up art again following retirement. I have a deep love of color and a fascination with different materials. I find myself thinking a lot about what I can do with a variety of materials (including paper elements, paints, inks, Gelli Plate printing). I think a lot about color combinations and textures.
A scientist and nature lover, I prefer landscapes to urban scenes. I enjoy thinking about movement in art, including the movement that different materials can interject into a work. Whether in a traditional oil painting or via a work of modern mixed media, I aim to make beautiful art; but, rather than simply making something that inspires a feeling of joy, I endeavor to make art that is interesting, intriguing in some way. If this provokes thoughtful responses in others, open communication, or connections within community—all the better.
